Warwick Davis first appeared on screen as Wicket the Ewok in 1983s Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Since then, the actor has starred in films like Willow, The Chronicles of Narnia, the Harry Potter franchise, and a lot of other movies in the Star Wars universe.

The difference between 1983 and now? Wicket has grown up and has a son of his own, which is where Davis’ son Harrison comes in. You may have noticed these two celebrating the final fall of the Emperor at the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Now, Syfy Wire takes us behind the scenes:

Harrison Davis played Pommet, Wicket’s son. “[Wicket] got older like I have, and he’s had a child,” Davis explained. “The Ewok you see next to him is his son — and my son Harrison, in reality as well, which was a really lovely touch. [Director J.J. Abrams] was really keen for us to play the characters together, which was lovely.”

Once Wicket and his furry pals helped the Rebellion defeat the Empire in Return of the Jedi, they thought they were going to be safe. But then came the First Order:

"I think life’s been okay for the Ewoks. Once they expelled the Empire, it seems like everything’s been okay. The idea of that scene there was to be looking up and seeing that the First Order is falling and life is going to be good again. I wasn’t given any backstory, but no doubt knowing the fans of Star Wars, there will be people creating these backstories."

Davis played various roles in The Phantom Menace, The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi, Solo: A Star Wars Story and The Rise of Skywalker. Maybe one day, Harrison can take over and continue the family tradition.

Next. Will HBO make a second season of The Outsider?. dark
