DC’s Legends of Tomorrow to “cross over” with Supernatural

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is heading to the land of the Winchesters…basically.

Actually, this isn’t the type of crossover we usually get. No, Sam and Dean will not be in an episode of Legends of Tomorrow, but Supernatural will. And not a moment too soon, considering it’s that show’s final season.

From what we can tell, it looks like Supernatural is an actual television series within the Arrowverse. Just as in reality, the characters of Supernatural are fictional. The first images for this episode, “Zari, Not Zari,” have been released, and they contain something Supernatural fans will be ecstatic about: BABY!

That’s right, Baby, the Winchesters’ 1967 Chevy Impala, makes an appearance in the episode. Images show Constantine (Matt Ryan), Sara (Caity Lotz), and Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) posing in front of it.

Are you all nerding out as much as I am?! Because this is EPIC!

Just to clarify, the Impala in the Legends of Tomorrow episode is just a replica made by a fan and not the actual car from the show. But that’s okay! This is good enough for us, isn’t it?

Co-showrunner Phil Klemmer spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the decision to do this “crossover”.

"[W]e wanted to do a spooky, Predator-style skulk-around-the-woods episode and at the 11th hour decided to have the Legends intersect with the crew of Supernatural. This was the inspired choice of our producing director Kevin Mock, I believe. In our world Supernatural is a TV show, not a real thing. Sorry, Supernatural fans."

But that doesn’t mean there won’t be nods to The CW’s long-running horror drama. “The [Supernatural] producers were incredibly gracious and enthusiastic about this tip of the hat, however,” Klemmer continued. “They even let us borrow some of their musical score — listen closely!”

How exciting is that! Given how stressful this week has been, it’s nice to hear that we have things to look forward to at some point in the future.

The Legends of Tomorrow “crossover” will air on March 24, so tune in, Supernatural fans! This is going to be a fun one.
