Emilia Clarke up for “doing something absolutely stupid and silly,” like The Avengers

Emilia Clarke is currently getting legitimate thee-a-ter on with a role in Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull in London’s West End…well, so long as the Coronavirus doesn’t shut down the Playhouse Theater.

But we all know she’ll be back on screen sooner or later. If she wants to go back into movies, she can pretty much take her pick. She has big screen experience, having starring in everything from Terminator Genisys to romantic comedies like Me Before You and Last Christmas, although it’s her time as Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones that will really recommend her to people.

And once she does get back into the game, might she want to be part of another franchise? That’s one of several questions The Sunday Times put to the actor, who had a delightfully Emilia Clarke-esque response:

"I think, if I did, it would be me having a giggle. I want to do something absolutely stupid and silly, like, you know, The Avengers or whatever. Something where I got to have a giggle with mates."

Something absolutely stupid and silly…like The Avengers! Could she get any more delightful?

Now, I don’t think she literally means that The Avengers is stupid and silly…although maybe she does, I dunno. As popular as the MCU movies are, they’re definitely made to go down easy, which is fine.

Interestingly, Clarke was originally going to have a role in Iron Man 3 before the script changed, and she has some pals from Game of Thrones already in the MCU: both Richard Madden (Robb Stark) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) will star in The Eternals, due out later this year. Surely Marvel would clear a place for her if she asked!
