New Rick and Morty episodes get trailer, release date
By Dan Selcke
It seems like ages ago since we got a new episode of Rick and Morty, Adult Swim’s gleefully irreverent cartoon about a super-genius scientist and his hapless grandson traveling the universe and destroying small portions of it. To be exact, it was in December, which is a pretty long time, made all the longer because back then barely anyone was thinking about the virus which is now dominating a lot of our lives.
But there’s hope! The second half of Rick and Morty’s fifth season is around the corner, and we’ve got the trailer to prove it:
Okay, I’m not an expert, but the robot suits are a Gundam reference, right? We’ve also got some Alien-like face-hugging-type things, lightsabers, and a lot of good-old fashioned sci-fi violence. And hey, the super-smart dogs from the first season are back!
This trailer comes a couple of days after Adult Swim put up a very violent, very entertaining Rick and Morty short that goes hard on samurai movies:
Is this part of the next five episodes? Is it just an excuse for some stylized blood-letting? We’ll find out when the show returns at 11:30 p.m. EST on Sunday, May 3!
By the way, Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland is releasing his new, very Rick and Morty-like show, Polar Opposites, on May 8, just a few days after season 5 kicks off:
So there’s gonna be a bunch of this kind of content in just over a month. Thank goodness.
