The sequel to Korean zombie flick Train to Busan gets a trailer!
The highly-anticipated sequel to 2016’s Korean zombie action flick, Train to Busan, has gotten its first teaser trailer. The movie is called Peninsula, and continues the story of the survivors of a zombie apocalypse who are trying to outrun the insanely fast flesh-eating undead. Check it out:
“Four years after South Korea’s total decimation in Train to Busan, the zombie thriller that captivated audiences worldwide, acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho brings us Peninsula, the next nail-biting chapter in his post-apocalyptic world,” reads the official synopsis. “Jung-seok, a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.”
If you haven’t had the frightening pleasure of seeing Train to Busan, then allow me to improve your life: It’s like Brad Pitt’s World War Z, but good and on steroids. Peninsula looks like it’s ramped up the speed demon zombies and even created a Resident Evil-like monstrosity that fights the living in a makeshift gladiatorial arena.
If Peninsula is even half as good as the first film, then it’s going to make a ton of money. Train to Busan had a budget of $8.5 million and made more than $90 million worldwide, with an aggregated Rotten Tomatoes score of 93%. The sequel has a lot to live up to.
While there’s no official release date set for Peninsula, but hopefully we’ll be able to see it sooner rather than later.
