The world is going through a bit of a rough patch right now, what with many of us still stuck inside as we wait out the worst of the coronavirus pandemic. We could all use a lift. How about the announcement that Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, the professional strongman best known for playing Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane on Game of Thrones, is expecting a baby with his wife Kelsey Henson?

It’s a boy! Congrats to the happy couple.

Okay, and let’s go back to talking about that rough patch. Game of Thrones stars are doing what they can to ease the burden, such as Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) raising money to make more hospital beds available for people suffering from the coronavirus. Miltos Yerolemou, who played Arya’s dancing master Syrio Forel back in the first season of the show, sent a message of thanks to healthcare workers at The Medical City in the Philippines, who helped his friend’s father during his fight with the virus.

“You face fatigue, shortages in supplies and the very real risk of infection,” Yerolemou said. “All of you are their heroes.” And he signed off with his famous line from Game of Thrones. “Remember, there is only one thing we say to the god of death, not today.”

Zipporah Reynolds, a costume effects technician on Game of Thrones for its final two season, is also getting into the fight by using her abilities in 3D printing and design to make and donate face masks to “care homes, hospices, the GPs and dentists where there is a huge shortage of PPE equipment putting vulnerable people at risk,” according to News Letter. “I have just received my second printer, meaning I can increase my daily manufacturer from 20 up to 60 face shields a day. We need to get these out fast!”

If you’re interested in helping Reynolds get needed equipment to healthcare workers in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, feel free to look at the GoFundMe page for the project.
