The fourth Thor film — Thor: Love and Thunder — is still moving forward, although production has been stopped thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, that hasn’t stopped director Taika Waititi and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) from giving us an update.
Waititi and Thompson hosted an Instagram Live screening party of the third Thor movie, joined later by the Hulk himself, Mark Ruffalo. The trio said that in comparison to what they’re doing with the “over-the-top” Love and Thunder, Ragnarok was “a really run-of-the-mill, really safe” film. And Ragnarok got pretty nuts, so we’re choosing to take this as good news. “It’s like 10-year-olds told us what should be in a movie and we said yes to every single thing.”
Apparently, Waititi is about four or five versions of the script in at this point, and Thompson has read the latest. He also gave us an update on Korg, the gladiator character he voiced in Ragnarok. The rocky dude won’t have a love interest in Love and Thunder, because he was “deeply in love and lost that love along the line. He doesn’t feel brave enough to find love again.”
It’s sort of hard to tell if Waititi is joking, but we would watch that.
Elsewhere, Waititi has been showing off some concept art for new outfits for Korg’s pal Miek, who is apparently getting a serious, sci-fi-looking upgrade:
These two have come a long way:
Thor: Love and Thunder was set to hit theaters on November 5, 2021, but due to the global pandemic, it’s been rescheduled for February 18, 2022. Disney has shifted the release dates of most of its MCU films, among others.
