See what the Game of Thrones cast looked like “in the ’80s,” and other funnies

How are you on this fine day? Cooped up in your home like most other people for fear of catching or spreading the virus that is currently crippling the global economy? Us too!

So things are a little bleak out there, but they don’t have to be in here. So while we pass the time waiting for the pandemic to abate, let’s try and have a laugh. For example, did you know that many of the actors on Game of Thrones — your Lena Headeys, your Peter Dinklages, etc — were once younger? Reddit knows, and it remembers:

Yep, those are some of favorite stars in the full bloom of youth, although saying this is them “in the ’80” is more metaphorical than true with some of these pictures. Here’s what I can tell:

• That’s Sean Bean (Ned Stark) in the bottom right-hand corner. That’s him from an episode of the British police procedural The Bill, from the 1984 episode “Long Odds,” looking all kinds of punk. Would watch.
• In the opposite corner, we have Stephen Dillane (Stannis Baratheon) as the journalist Michael Henderson in the war film Welcome To Sarajevo. That movie actually came out in 1997, not the ’80s, but that jacket looks like it’s out of the ’80s, doesn’t it?
• That’s Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark) as Teresa Doyle in the 1990 drama Hidden Agenda, about British state terrorism during the Northern Irish Troubles. I guess it would have been filmed in the ’80s, so it counts.
• As for Peter Dinklage, that’s a rather infamous photo of him from his high school year book. He went to Delbarton School, a Catholic preparatory school for boys. The mullet is everything.

And I can’t quite place the others. It looks like it could be a school days photo for Kristian Nairn (Hodor), too. Lena Headey’s been in plenty of movies over the years, but her first was Waterland in 1992, so nothing from the ’80s. Likewise, Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) didn’t appear in any movies until 1992’s Into the West, although I’m not sure where that particular image is from.
