Pics, teasers and episode synopses for the end of Star Wars: The Clone Wars

It’s finally here: the highly-anticipated clash between Maul and Ahsoka in Star Wars: The Clone Wars! This is something that fans have been waiting to see for years, and it’s all going down in this Friday’s new episode, “The Phantom Apprentice.” That title is obviously a callback to the first Star Wars prequel film, The Phantom Menace, where Darth Maul first burst onto the scene and excited fans with his double-bladed lightsaber.

So what happens in this outing? Let’s consult the official synopsis: “Ahsoka leads Republic clones to confront Maul’s forces on Mandalore, while Maul senses the impending chaos and makes a calculated play to ensure his own survival in ‘The Phantom Apprentice.'” And also there’s a trailer:

Before they can confront Maul, Ahsoka, Rex (with their clone troopers) and Bo-Katan (with her Mandalorian clan) must formulate a plan that will free Mandalore from the former Sith Lord’s iron grip.

Whatever Bo-Katan and Ahsoka are staring at, they don’t seem to like it. It’s Maul, isn’t it?

As they size each other up, it looks like Maul is taunting Ahsoka.

Ahsoka has had enough of Maul’s mind games and presses the attack.

And they clash, lightsabers locked in a deadly dance that will decide the fate of Mandalore.

So it looks like Ahsoka actually defeats Maul and attempts to take him back to Coruscant, where the Jedi Council will deal with him. But Palpatine has enacted Order 66, so Ahsoka and Rex have to deal with the clones who will turn on the Jedi.
