Doctors past and present come together to say thank you to the NHS and frontline workers, in a rather special Doctor Who clip for the BBC’s Big Night In.

Last night, The Big Night In was broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. A combination of British telethons Comic Relief and Children in Need, highlights of the event included the long-overdue return of The Vicar of Dibley; Matt Lucas singing a special performance of Baked Potato, and Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon trying to avoid Richard Curtis in The Trip.

Of course, there was something for the Doctor Who fandom, as well. Something short, but definitely sweet, in many ways. It’s not a scene or a sketch, but a massive thank you from many of the Doctors. And we do mean many.

The Doctors that feature in this video include: Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, Jodie Whittaker, and Jo Martin. It’s a pretty impressive and heartwarming video message, one that you can see for yourself in the clip below.

From ten Doctors to many more

It’s a simple video, showing

most of the surviving Doctors simply saying thank you to all the NHS and frontline workers. But it’s also an important and heartwarming one, too. With so many risking their own health to protect that of others, it’s important to recognize and give thanks to that.

Seeing so many faces of one of Britain’s most iconic heroes is certainly a fantastic way of doing that. Even with one face distinctly missing, seeing ten different Doctors give their thanks is wonderful to see, and a reminder of how many are coming together to give their support of those doing such important work.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen a lot of amazing things from the Doctor Who fandom – particularly from the various Doctor Who watchalongs we’ve had, where actors, showrunners, and more have joined in. But this is perhaps the most inspirational to see. Watching ten different Doctors acknowledging and thanking the work of countless doctors, nurses, and other frontline workers is truly something special.
