Pics from “Shattered,” the penultimate episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars
As we enter the final two episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Disney+, showrunner Dave Filoni and his team will show fans how Ahsoka and Rex deal with Emperor Palpatine’s Oder 66, the command that triggered all clones to turn on their Jedi commanders and wipe out the order almost completely.
But animated.
“After successfully capturing Maul on Mandalore, Ahsoka plans to deliver him to the Jedi Council on Coruscant,” reads the synopsis. “When Order 66 is declared in the midst of her journey, her world is turned upside down. Friends become foes, and enemies become allies in ‘Shattered.'”
Watch the trailer:
If you watched Star Wars Rebels, then you know Rex and two of his fellow clone troopers — Gregor and Wolffe — survive the Clone Wars by removing the chips in their heads that Palpatine used to turn them against the Jedi. So we have that to look forward to.
Another Rebels connection in “Shattered” will be Ursa Wren — mother to Sabine Wren — removing her helmet and standing next to her Mandalorian Nite Owl compatriot, Bo-Kattan.

Look behind Uran and Bo-Katan and you’ll see Maul trapped inside what appears to be some sort of Force-neutralizing device with a Mandalorian symbol on it.

At some point in the episode, Ahsoka and her squadron of clone troopers will have to depart Mandalore. This looks the Mandalorians transferring Maul into the Republic’s control:

Ahsoka and Rex will have plenty of emotional moments in this episode.

That’ll include Ahsoka saluting Rex right before Order 66 kicks off. I’m welling up already.

“Shattered” will air this Friday, May 1. Then we only have to wait a few days until May 4 — Star Wars Day — to see the “heart-pounding series finale ‘Victory and Death'”!
