We here in the 21st century are continuing to grapple with COVID-19, and could use some distractions. Unfortunately, help from the distant future could be slow to arrive, as Star Trek: Discovery editor Scott Gamzon revealed that while post-production on season 3 is continuing as the crew members work from home, it’s going to “take longer” than expected:
Post production, Sound, VFX and Editorial are all hard at work from our homes. It’s going to take longer and there have been challenges but the results will be worth the wait!

And yes, Gamzon is talking to series star Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber). All the conversation is happening on Twitter.
Luckily for Star Trek fans, filming on season 3 was completed before most of the entertainment world shut down in order slow the spread of the coronavirus, with first-look photos already out there. The new season will find Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery dealing with a bewildering nor normal after they were flung hundreds of years into their own future — what does the future of this futuristic world look like? Stay tuned.
How long must we stay tuned for? We still don’t know, although season 3 didn’t have a release date even before COVID-19 hit, so technically it’s not being pushed back. We’ll keep our ears to the ground for more.
