Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff joins The Mandalorian season 2 as Bo-Katan!
Hollywood is still awaiting word that it’s safe to return to the creation of television and film, and while plenty of shows and movies have been delayed, Disney CEO Bob Chapek has assured CNBC that the second season of The Mandalorian on Disney+ will season 2 will debut as scheduled. Luckily, showrunners Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau had already wrapped filming on the second season a while back, meaning that post-production is well underway and the show will be ready to watch in October, as planned.
And when October gets here, Star Wars fans will see some familiar faces. We already know that Rosario Dawson will be playing Ahsoka Tano, a fan favorite character from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a show created by The Mandalorian showrunner Dave Filoni. This will mark Ahsoka’s first live-action appearance.
And now, according to Slashfilm, the character of Bo-Katan will appear as well. Bo-Katan Kryze is the leader of the Nite Owls Mandalorian splinter group, and helped Ahsoka defeat Maul in the Siege of Mandalore in the final season of The Clone Wars. What’s more, she’ll be played by Katee Sackhoff, who earned her sci-fi bona fides playing Starbuck in the 2003 revival of Battlestar Galactica.
Anyway, it makes sense for Bo-Katan to show up on The Mandalorian, since she’s a Mandalorian warrior and the last known keeper of the Darksaber, the same black-bladed weapon Moff Gideon used to cut himself free of the wreckage of his crash TIE-Fighter in the season 1 finale. Usually, the Darksaber is passed down from one Mandalorian to another when someone is defeated in combat. Perhaps Bo-Katan will come onto the show to help explain how Gideon ended up with it.
And there are yet more familiar faces on their way for The Mandalorian season 2. The other day, we learned that Boba Fett will appear, played by the guy who played Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones, Temuera Morrison. And according to rumors on Reddit (always a reliable source of information, I know), both Sabine Wren from Star Wars Rebels and Captain Rex from The Clone Wars will turn up as well.
The Mandalorian season 2 is starting to feel kind of crowded. Hopefully they remember to reserve plenty of screentime for Baby Yoda.
