The Umbrella Academy cast reveals season 2 release date…with dancing!

Netflix isn’t going to make us wait for the further adventures of the most dysfunctional superhero family on television: the second season of The Umbrella Academy drops on July 31.

Netflix made the announcement in a fun, quarantine-friendly video:

Yeesh, Tom Hopper’s arms.

That’s Hargreeves family members Ellen Page (Vanya), Tom Hopper (Luther), David Castañeda (Diego), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison), Robert Sheehan (Klaus), Aidan Gallagher (Number Five) and Justin H. Min (Ben) dancing to “I Think We’re Alone Now.” Anyone who watched the first season will remember that this lot danced to the same song after they reunited to mourn the loss of their benefactor and father figure, Sir Reginald Hargreeves:

It’s a whole, “we’re alone but together” thing. The Hargreeves kids were all born spontaneously to different mothers around the world, none of whom were pregnant moments earlier; we still don’t know what happened there. Sir Reginald Hargreeves knew these children were special and took them in, raising them and fashioning them into a superhero team. It worked okay for a while, but as adults, the Hargreeves kids are all pretty fractured people. The first season is about them rebuilding their relationships with each other, and trying to prevent the apocalypse in the meantime.

The kicker is that they fail. The first season ends with the world descending into chaos and the Hargreeves kids going back in time to try and prevent it, as a team. We’ll find out how that goes in July!

The Umbrella Academy was a fun watch, so I’m glad to see that quarantine hasn’t resulted in a delay for the second season.

Next. Take the Black Live: Westworld, Cursed, The Mandalorian and Snowpiercer. dark
