Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall adds Jaime Lannister and Melisandre as playable characters
By Dan Selcke
Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall is a mobile game currently available on the iOS store, the Google App Store, and Huawei’s App Gallery. Developed by Behaviour Interactive, GAEA and HBO, this free game finds you put in charge of the Night’s Watch decades before the events of the show. When you’re not managing things at Castle Black, you’ll be sending your units into the northern unknown to battle against wildlings and worse in strategic, turn-based battles:
That said, the game goes outside parameters by giving you access to heroes, familiar characters you can recruit by using weirwoods to travel into the past and future of Westeros. Characters like Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are already playable, each coming with their own special skills in battle. With the latest update, Behaviour has added Jaime Lannister and Melisandre to the roster.
The update also comes with new storylines to play through. Play the first levels in each and you’ll be able to control Jaime and Melisandre during two iconic Game of Thrones battles: the Battle of the Goldroad for Jaime, when Daenerys showed the Lannister army what kind of damage a dragon can really do…
…and the Battle of Winterfell for Melisandre, where she made one final stand against the Night King before dying, her long life finally over:
Plus, if you enter the code in the tweet below by May 28, you’ll get some free goodies:
I love that they say that the free “Carved Glyph” and “Shifting Deck” are available only “while supplies last,” as if they aren’t infinitely duplicable digital items that never degrade. They last forever if you want them to, game!
But that’s neither here nor there. Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall is available now!
