The fate of Lucifer has hung in the balance for a while. The show, which is about what happens when Satan abandons his throne in hell to become a nightclub owner and part-time police consultant in Los Angeles, had a three-season run on Fox before it was cancelled. The extremely passionate fanbase mounted a campaign to get it picked back up, and mere weeks later, Netflix swooped in for the save. A fourth season followed with a fifth on the way. Netflix wanted to make a sixth, but that plan looked like it was in danger when they couldn’t come to an agreement with star Tom Ellis about a pay raise.
Happily, it looks like that problem has been resolved. TV Line reports that Ellis has signed a new deal. Even though Netflix hasn’t formally announced a sixth season yet, this basically clinches it. The devil will have his due, as will Tom Ellis.
As for the fifth season, we still have no idea when it’s coming out; apparently Netflix ran into some “post-production hiccups” thanks to the coronavirus, which has basically put all of Hollywood in a holding pattern. While we wait for that to work itself out, fan can enjoy deleted scenes from season 4…
….and glimpses behind the set of season 5:
And if it helps, season 5 has been shot, meaning that whatever post-production hiccups the team is having, it’ll at least be out this year. Season 6 is another matter, but let’s just slay one monster at a time.
