Sam Heughan is the apple of any Outlander fan’s eye. We adore him, love him, and couldn’t imagine anyone better to play the role of Jamie Fraser.
Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing him as Jamie again for a while, since a new Droughtlander has just begun. While we wait, let’s let Sam Heughan take us behind the scenes of the show through a Twitter Q&A he did with W Network following the season 5 penultimate episode, “Journeycake,” starting with an intense moment that got a little too hot to handle:
Haha yes I had to light it myself and got too close at one point. Eyebrows and hair started to singe. My uncle made the crosses... we had about 4 of them https://t.co/7qW9zlcB9H

Uh, Sam Heughan, let’s be a little careful playing with fire, alright? We need you in tip-top shape and, most importantly, safe!
But it is pretty cool that he was the one to light the cross. It was such an inspiring and profound moment for Jamie, and I’d imagine Sam Heughan lighting it himself brought a lot of raw emotion to the scene.
Playing with fire isn’t the only thing Heughan has to contend with while on Outlander. I mean, have you seen all those wigs?
They’re awful. Glue and itchy, especially when midges get under them, like torture. But cool how it changes your image. Useful tool https://t.co/ivQqcOow57

In the ninth episode of season 5, “Monsters and Heroes”, Jamie is bitten in the leg by a poisonous snake. Fans were curious whether his mutilated leg was real or a prosthetic:
My leg. Probably an extra hour in makeup. @wendykempforbes is a genius (and gore lover!) https://t.co/T8zW071JiA

Last but not least, I’d be remiss not to mention Heughan’s favorite episode from the fifth season, which just so happens to be the one that broke all of our hearts.
So many good ones! One of our strongest seasons. For me, Ep7.... https://t.co/5tOt1uL6ue pic.twitter.com/KedLADFv7B

Outlander season 5 was an incredible continuation of the story we love, and may have been my favorite season so far. The story has moved forward in a very profound way, and with all the wounds and scars this family is carrying, I can only imagine what season 6 has in store for them.
