The Walker virus is a waterborne disease
Could the zombie virus have started as a waterborne disease? Redditor FuneralCasual likes to think so!
This convincing theory would have us believe that spreads through water, meaning you could contracting it by simply not drinking water…which is impossible if you want to survive. That explains why everyone has the virus, even if they’re not yet a walking corpse.
FuneralCasual thinks that the virus being waterborne makes more sense as it would move slower than an airborne virus and therefore be much more difficult to spot. They back up this idea with some evidence from the pilot episode of Fear The Walking Dead. In the episode, there are multiple ominous shots specifically focusing on water. They appear throughout the episode, sometimes even showing the same shot of water from multiple angles.
For example, in the very first scene, take a look at the jug of water as Nick wakes up in the church. It’s shown three times from three different angles. What’s more, the church is full of what we believe are the first Walkers.
Maybe it’s not the most conclusive evidence, but it’s definitely interesting. I mean, sure it could have just been a really hot day while filming, but FuneralCasual’s theory is more fun.
Overall, this is quite a convincing theory. It’s realistic and plausible, and for that, I like it!
