Welcome to Take the Black Live. Usually on this show, we talk about the latest goings-on in the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, TV, movies and what-have-you. And we still do that on this latest episode. But the bulk of it is a discussion of how the entertainment industry is reacting to the protests against police violence that have been going on throughout the country, and indeed the world. What responsibilities do celebrities and studios have in times like this? What are they doing, and can they keep it up in a way that can affect real change?

We do hit some other topics. What do we think of HBO Max now that’s out? Why are we so excited to watch Lovecraft Country, a new horror show coming to HBO this fall? And finally, what else are we watching when not glued to the news?
