The apocalypse is coming in the final trailer for Dark season 3
By Dan Selcke
Dark is living up to its name. After two seasons of mind-bending, time-traveling twists, the first German-language original series airs its final cycle later this month, and based on the new trailer, things are gonna get bleak. Watch below:
That black dome spreading over the town certainly looks malevolent, and you can’t go three seconds without someone making an ominous pronouncement. “Everything repeats itself, as none of us are prepared to let go.” “This apocalypse also happens in our world.” “We can’t escape our fate.” This is not a cheery show, this show.
It is, however, a show that’s earned itself a pretty sizable following in the US over the past couple of years, with fans getting wrapped up in the dense, complicated story. In brief, it starts when children begin to go missing from the town of Winden, Germany, exposing tensions and connections between four of its prominent families. Before long, characters are being pulled backwards and forwards in time for a story that spans generations and leads inexorably towards apocalypse. It’s a grim good time.
Creators Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar have promised that this season will finally solve some of the show’s fascinating mysteries. “We will offer answers to the questions that our viewers have been asking and help untangle the story through time,” they said. “It will be hard for us to walk away from those characters we have really grown fond of, but the beginning is the end, and the end is the beginning.”
Dark season 3 drops on Netflix on June 27.
