It’s been a month since Warner Bros. announced that the Snyder Cut would be coming to HBO Max. The Snyder Cut is director Zack Snyder much-prophesied final cut of Justice League, one that will presumably improve on the ho-hum affair released to theaters. Now, he’s released a sneak peak at what fans can expect:
“The bell’s already been rung, and they’ve heard it.” That’s a line from Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) from the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He was foretelling the coming Darkseid, one of the DC Universe’s great big bads. In the clip, Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) looks at some ancient art of the supervillain, and then we see a quick vision of him in the flesh.
The story behind the Snyder Cut is a long and fascinating. It started when Snyder had to pull back from directing the original movie due to a family emergency. The Avengers director Joss Whedon was brought in to film the rest, and then Warner Bros. chopped it up further and released it to theaters in 2017. The movie was meh at best, and fans immediately started to call for Warner Bros. to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut. For a while, it seemed like it was just a pipe dream, but here we are.
The Snyder Cut will be out on HBO Max next year, and Snyder is promising it’ll live up to expectations. “It will be an entirely new thing, and, especially talking to those who have seen the released movie, a new experience apart from that movie,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Expect to see more from the Snyder Cut at the DC FanDome event taking place on August 22.
