Rotten Tomatoes users name Game of Thrones best HBO original series
By Corey Smith
HBO has a stellar back catalog, with even the most fervent fan likely not having seen all of what the powerhouse network has to offer. Rotten Tomatoes recently held a tournament where it pitted these classic series against each other, with everything from Sex and The City to Westworld to The Wire to Game of Thrones vying for the top spot.
After multiple rounds of voting, Game of Thrones trounced Westworld with 74% of the vote to take the throne. Check out the full bracket below:
It’s no secret that the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones was divisive (which is the nicest word for it, really; it currently has a 31% audience score on RT), but the series itself appears to still remain wildly popular among fans.
Although I would agree for the most part, I’d argue that The Wire was the more consistent show. I’d also argue that if a show isn’t complete it shouldn’t be on the list, but c’est la vie.
If nothing else, the results raise some interesting questions. Should comedies compete against dramas? Which season of
True Detective
are we ranking? How in the hell did
The Sopranos
lose to
Chernobyl
? And so on.
