Unsolved Mysteries revival reveals premiere date, spooky trailer

If you’re a ’90s kid, raise your hand up way high if you watched Unsolved Mysteries with your family. As someone who grew up watching and loving horror/thriller/suspense films and television shows, Unsolved Mysteries was waaaay up there on my list. Whether it was the creepy theme song or the presence of the late Robert Stack prepping us for whatever weird story we’re about to hear, the series just had it all.
For those who don’t know, Unsolved Mysteries was a docuseries that covered paranormal/supernatural/bizarre cases, with real people giving their accounts of what happened to them or their loved ones. While there was a spooky element to it all, it was also cheesy and silly at times, which made it even more fun to watch.
Now, thanks to Netflix, the series is being revived by original creators John Cosgrove and Terry Dunn Meurer, together with Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy. Stranger Things is all about referencing things from the ’80s, so this is perfect. Check out the new trailer:
And the new series is premiering on July 1! Mark your calendars.
Just hearing that iconic theme music has me all sorts of excited! If only Stack was alive to play a part. Whoever the new host/narrator might be, I can’t imagine they’ll ever top Stack; between his voice and that trench coat, he really tied the whole thing together:
The new series will keep the spirit of the old one alive as it explores murders, sudden disappearances, aliens, and more. Of course, the actual family members/friends/community members will give first-hand testimonials, just as on the original show.
There will be slight changes, however. In the original Unsolved Mysteries, multiple cases were explored in one episode. In the revival, each case gets an episode to itself. There will be a total of 12 episodes, with only the first six dropping on July 1:
- “Mystery on the Rooftop”
- “13 Minutes”
- “House of Terror”
- “No Ride Home”
- “Berkshire’s UFO”
- “Missing Witness”
House of Terror? Mystery on the Rooftop? And at least one about aliens. Heck yes, ladies and gentlemen, Unsolved Mysteries is BACK!
