Let’s be honest: Ray Fisher got pretty screwed over in Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie. While every other character got their time in the spotlight, we barely got to learn anything about Victor Stone, aka Cyborg.

To date, he’s the only character in the Justice League who either doesn’t have a solo movie out or one in the pipeline. As the kids would say, “they did him dirty.” But back during 2017’s San Diego Comic-Con, Fisher was putting on a happy face and praising the theatrical cut of the movie, which was finished up by Joss Whedon after Snyder had to pull out due to a family emergency.

“Joss is a great guy,” Fisher said at the time, “and Zack picked a good person to come in and clean up; and finish up for him.” Fast forward to now, with HBO Max planning to release the Snyder Cut, which preserves Zack Snyder’s original vision for the movie. Ray Fisher feels a little differently than he did back then:

Now, there’s some ambiguity here, but we’ll assume that Fisher means he’s retracting his support for the theatrical cut of Justice League, not implying that Joss Whedon is a terrible person.

In any case, hopefully Cyborg has more to do in the Snyder Cut, because Ray Fisher is a talented actor and deserves the screentime. And a solo movie wouldn’t hurt. There have been whispers of such a project during panels at SDCC, but we’ve yet to see anything concrete.

I think justice will be served if the Snyder Cut gives Ray Fisher’s Cyborg some time to shine, which I hope will lead to his own movie. And if not, I have no doubt that fans of the DCEU will raise the alarm. The last time they did that, we got the Snyder Cut. They’re just persuasive like that.
