Cowabunga! Seth Rogen to produce new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie

Seth Rogen is making every ’90s kid’s dream come true with a CGI animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, according to Deadline. When I first saw this news, I was worried we’d be getting another live-action film, but this look like a much better fit.

As a ’90s kid, there was nothing like waking up on a Saturday morning and watching cartoons all day, topping it off with some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And some pizza. Being a kid was pretty great.

The movie will be based off a TMNT comic book, which means we’ll likely be getting something closer to the cartoon many grew up with as opposed to whatever the Michael Bay movies were trying to do…the verdict is still out on that one.

And there’s yet more TMNT goodness headed your way. Unrelated to Seth Rogen’s movie, Nickelodeon is creating a 2D animated TMNT movie with Netflix. That’s a lot of Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo.

I’m hoping we can get their dear friend and reporter April O’Neill in on the action, too, along with rat martial arts instructor Splinter. Ah, just typing these names brings me back.

I do have one question, however. Just last year, A Quiet Place producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller were also said to be rebooting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. Is this the same project just rounded out with a crew? If so, fine. But if it’s something else, do we really need this many TMNT movies? Especially after the hot mess that was 2016’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Come on, guys, let’s think this one through.

Next. Wild rumor has it that Disney will “erase” the Star Wars sequel trilogy from canon. dark
