The Last Kingdom cast reacts to season 5 renewal

It’s official: Netflix is bringing back its medieval drama The Last Kingdom for a fifth season, and we couldn’t be happier.

But the cast is even happier than us, and we have proof. First up, unofficial set photographer James Northcote (Aldhelm) shares a shot of Alexander Dreymon (Uhtred) from season 4. “[T]hanks to the incredible fans it couldn’t happen without all the amazing support,” he writes. You’re welcome!

Hopefully Northcote continues sharing as season 5 gets underway!

Elsewhere, Ruby Hartley (Stiorra, Uhtred’s daughter) shares a shot from what looks like the season 4 wrap party. Here’s to another wrap party down the road!

Mark Rowley (Finan) also shared a behind-the-scenes shot from season 4. We’re looking forward to getting back into this kind of chaos:

Magnus Bruun’s character, Cnut, might have met his end in season 4, but that doesn’t mean he’s stopped rooting for his former castmates:

As for Dreymon himself, he thanked the fans for his continued adventures as Uhtred, and shared the original announcement video. Happily, it’s still great the second time:

Jokester Jeppe Beck Laursen (Haesten) expressed his excitement by striking a pose:

Emily Cox shared a shot of Brida preparing for battle. On a related note, Brida totally scares us.

Arnas Fedaravicius (Sihtric) also shared the announcement video, and we’re hyped all over again.

Finally, season 4’s most improved character, the Lady Aelswith (Eliza Butterworth), shared an avalanche of photos from her time on the show. “We are utterly over the moon to announce there will be a SEASON 5 of @thelastkingdom!!!” she writes. “DESTINY IS ALLLLLL!!!”

Last we saw Aelswith, she was in a bad way. Hopefully she makes a full recovery, because Butterworth always keeps us entertained!

That’s it for now! We might not have an official release date for season 5 yet, but we’re told a production date is on the books, so hopefully behind-the-scenes photos will start to pour in soon! Destiny is all!
