The Walking Dead stars Lennie James and Jeffrey Dean Morgan are “gutted” over the fact that there was never a face-off between Negan and Morgan.

The Walking Dead’s Lennie James (Morgan) recently dropped by the podcast Friday Night with the Morgans, hosted by Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) and his wife Hilarie Burton, and it was spectacular!

I always wanted to see an epic face-off between Morgan and Negan, but James left the series to join the spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead, and it never happened. As it turns out, both James and Morgan share the same sentiments.

“The two of them in the same room is never going to be casual,” James said. “One of the things I regret most about my time on The Walking Dead, and I regret very little, is that there are a couple of people who became friends but we never actually got to do any scenes together. You and [Michael Cudlitz, who plays Abraham] are the two that are top of my list that I’m just like gutted I never got the chance.”

Morgan (Jeffrey Dean, that is, not the character) sounds pretty broken up about it, too. “It never happened! I got there and then you left and it’s one of my biggest regrets.” Of course, James has a good point about getting out when the getting was good. “[T]here were two options,” he said. “Either leave and go to Fear, or do a scene with Negan and die!”

I agree with you there, Mr. James. How cool would an Abraham and Morgan scene been? Ugh, the things that never came to be. Maybe it could happen in a flashback or something?
