Sophie Skelton (Brianna Fraser) talks about her future on Outlander
By Ariba Bhuvad
Sophie Skelton has quickly become the pride and joy of the Outlander family, within the series and the fandom. We’re in awe of her talent and life she brings to the role of Brianna Fraser. It’s been fun watching her progression over the last couple of years as she settles the role and navigates the very complicated storyline she’s been given.
But there’s a part of me that always wondered: how long will that story last? Will there be a point where she and Roger really do go back to their own time? Or might they venture somewhere outside of Fraser’s Ridge? Or, dare I say it, could they die?
On a show like Outlander, anything can happen. While speaking to Gold Derby, Sophie Skelton pondered her feelings about (eventually) leaving the role of Brianna behind.
“You know hopefully, I hope at some point but right now I’m just living and breathing Outlander but hopefully that opens some doors at some point,” she said.
Okay, so that’s not exactly a pinpoint prediction of when she could be leaving. It’s more like going with the flow until she hears otherwise. But I do see a life for Skelton outside of Outlander! She’s incredibly talented and would do well in a James Bond movie, for instance…although if Sam Heughan is cast as the next Bond that could get strange since they play father and daughter on Outlander, but it’s a risk I’m willing to take.
