Catch up with The Umbrella Academy family members before season 2!

Number Six, a.k.a. Ben, a.k.a The Horror

Ben unfortunately met his untimely demise many years before the main events of the first season of The Umbrella Academy. The fallen hero had a statue erected in the courtyard at the Academy in his honor, although it was knocked over in a scuffle between the siblings. But he wasn’t completely missing in action. Klaus could see and hear him, but he helped his brother stay sober long enough to reach some of his full potential and saving his siblings from beyond the grave.

Ben has the ability to summon horrific inter-dimensional beings from beneath his skin. In the season 1 finale, he summons a terrifying tentacle beast that makes quick work of everyone stupid enough to face him down.

Justin H. Min has been upgraded from having a recurring role in the first season to a full-blown series regular in the second. The Horror is still shrouded in mystery in the comics, so seeing more from Ben has to be very high on fans’ wish lists.

Number Seven, a.k.a. Vanya, The White Violin

Ellen Page plays Vanya Hargreeves, the supposed dud of The Umbrella Academy. But before the first season ended, fans learned that Number Seven is not to be underestimated. In fact, she brings about the apocalypse.

From childhood, Vanya’s powers were strong. Too strong, according to Reginald Hargreeves. He feared what she might do if left unchecked, so he had Allison use her powers to convince Vanya that she didn’t have powers at all.

Vanya grew up thinking she was the lone girl in her family who wasn’t special. After years of ridicule, betrayal and degradation from her family, the rage inside her unleashed. She shot a giant beam of energy into the moon, breaking off a chunk of it. That chunk crashed into the Earth, causing the apocalypse.

But it could get better. Right before impact, Number Five teleported himself and his siblings into the past, the hope being that with more time they could figure out a way to stop all this from happening. Vanya is going to have to get control of her powers. In the comics, she can focus it through her violin. She does some of that in the season 1 finale…but she also still destroys the planet, so she’s got a ways to go.

Number Seven is definitely going to have a rough time in season 2, given how she almost killed literally everybody. She and Allison will have some particular difficulties to work through, since Vanya lost control and slashed her sister’s throat. The other siblings will be very cautious around her, knowing of her power. Unless the Umbrella Academy can fix her, the apocalypse will still happen, so the clock is ticking.
