Shirtless Jason Momoa getting hosed down is best Dune ad Warner Bros. never asked for
By Dan Selcke
We’re all hyped for the new Dune movie coming this December, but just in case there are a few holdouts, Jason Momoa is here to help.
Warner Bros. is adapting Dune, Frank Herbert’s science fiction classic, for the big screen. The book has been adapted before, but never quite successfully; it looks like director Denis Villeneuve’s version may finally give the story the onscreen treatment it deserves.
That’s in part due to the absolutely bonkers cast, which includes folks like Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Dave Bautista and many more. People already want Timothée Chalamet to win an Oscar for playing lead character Paul Atreides.
And now, Jason Momoa — who plays Atreides family sword-master Duncan Idaho — is giving the movie yet another boost by posting some candid shots of himself on his Instagram. I don’t know what exactly is happening in these pictures — it looks like it’s him getting cleaned after a photoshoot or something? — but it doesn’t matter, because it’s shots of Jason Momoa covered in mud getting hosed off, which sell themselves:
“Hard to explain this one,” Momoa writes. “Now I need a dune buggy. Dune coming soon.”
Also, note the dude who’s hosing him off wearing a mask: very conscientious, very 2020.
We’ve now seen the logo for Dune, but haven’t seen an official poster yet. I mean, if the goal is get butts in seats Warner Bros. could do worse than to use these images, just saying.
Dune comes out in theaters on December 18, coronavirus permitting.
