With the Snyder Cut promising to redeem Justice League, it’s time for other critical superhero bombs to have their second chance.
The Snyder Cut is happening. The Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad is getting discussed. But when it comes to elaborate edits of panned superhero movies, few things can stand up to…the Reynolds Cut of Green Lantern.
Green Lantern is a 2011 movie starring Ryan Reynolds as the eponymous Power Ring-wielding superhero. This was right around the time the Marvel Cinematic Universe was really getting going with movies like Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, and not every studio had figured out how to make it work yet. Green Lantern has become one of those superhero movies we just don’t talk about.
But the magic of editing can do wonders. Check out Reynolds’ original vision, which makes some “judicious cuts” to the original film:
Here’s the secret Reynolds Cut of GL you all haven’t been waiting for. In order to make it as great as possible we made some judicious cuts. pic.twitter.com/B2tUelctr8

Is it a masterpiece yet?
So it looks like the Reynolds Cut borrows some footage from Deadpool 2 and Justice League to cut out all the iffy parts of the movie and make it seem like Green Lantern joins Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash and Cyborg at the end. Also in this version Reynolds can’t make the original movie because Deadpool killed him.
Next step: the Barry Cut of Catwoman. Stay tuned.
In other Ryan Reynolds superhero news, he shot down a rumor that he might appear as Hawkman in the upcoming Shazam! shoot-off Black Adam:
I’m not playing Hawkman in Black Adam. Although I generally do whatever the hell @TheRock tells me to do. I would however love to be in Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie and I’ve heard I may already be in it? #SnyderCut

Unfortunately, it’s not looking too likely that we’ll see Reynolds in a superhero suit anytime in the near future, as Disney doesn’t seem to know quite what to do with the Deadpool franchise after it bought Fox.
