Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant return as the Sixth Doctor and Peri in a brand new Doctor Who audio box set from Big Finish Productions!
An exciting new box set of stories has been released by Big Finish today. Starring Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant, Doctor Who: The Sixth Doctor and Peri Volume 1 features four new stories for this popular pairing.
What makes this box set particularly exciting is when it takes place for these two. While last year, we had a trilogy of stories set during their time together on the TV series, these four stories are set a long time after that. Specifically, after the trilogy that began with their reunion in the excellent audio, The Widow’s Assassin.
It’s been almost six years since that trilogy was released, so finding out what happened next has been a long time coming. Particularly as there’s something the Doctor knows about Peri that he’s keeping secret from her…

Old team, new stories
In regards to these four new stories, Nicola Bryant is extremely enthusiastic about them.
"I really adore all of these stories. Interesting, complex and diverse. They all tackle the inevitable change between the Sixth Doctor and Peri that would be reflected in the decades they have known each other. What is really interesting is that Peri has grown but of course the Doctor hasn’t changed at all."

Seeing how the Doctor’s and Peri’s relationship has changed is one reason why this is a particularly exciting release. While stories set during the Doctor’s and Peri’s original travels together are great to listen to, (in fact, Memories of a Tyrant was one of the highlights of last year,) the stories set after their reunion presented a potentially fresh take on their relationship. One that still had some of the banter from their previous travels, but also a hint of maturity, too.
The stories included in this box set are The Headless Ones by James Parsons & Andrew Stirling-Brown, Like by Jacqueline Rayner, The Vanity Trap by Stuart Manning, and Conflict Theory by Nev Fountain. The last of which is particularly exciting, as Fountain has written some of the best stories for this pairing on audio, or indeed, in any format. (Last year’s anthology Blood on Santa’s Claw was especially fantastic, and only one example of a great story with these two characters.)
