DC pulls the curtain back on the Snyder Cut, The Flash movie, the Rock’s Black Adam, and our new emo Batman. Take a look at the trailers, images and info:

Warner Bros. has cast the die and showed off what it has coming up for its slate of DC movies and shows at the DC FanDome, a virtual event dedicated to all things superheroic. Here’s what went down:

Wonder Woman 1984 trailer

We had another new trailer for Wonder Woman 1984, which would have already been out if not for the coronavirus. We get a closer look at Kristen Wiig’s take on Diana’s nemesis the cheetah, more comedy with Chris Pine’s miraculously revived Steve Trevor (still not sure how that happens), more of Pedro Pascal’s ’80s corporate villain, and of course, Wonder Woman swinging through the sky:

Hopefully we’ll get a firm release date soon.

The Flash

We got a bunch of Flash stuff at the FanDome, including a trailer for the seventh season of The Flash show on The CW, which is coming next year:

Director Andy Muschietti and screenwriter Christina Hodson also talked about the upcoming Flash movie starring Ezra Miller, confirming that it involve him traveling through time to change the DC Multiverse. This means crossovers with movies past, including a meeting between Ben Affleck’s take on Batman with Michael Keaton’s iconic version of the Caped Crusader. There’s even concept art of Miller’s Flash and Keaton’s Batman together:

You can tell it’s Keaton’s Batman because of the distinctive Bat-logo on his chest.

This should be an interesting one. The Flash movie is due out in 2022.

Black Adam

We got a bunch of teasers for the upcoming Black Adam movie, starring Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson as the titular superhero. It’s kind of shocking that the Rock hasn’t had his own superhero movie already, but better late than never.

As you can see, Black Adam will feature live-action versions of a lot of lot of DC heroes, including Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Cyclone and Atom Smasher. As rumored, Atom Smasher will be played by Noah Centineo.

Sounds very serious.

Black Adam is an interesting character to build a movie around, since he’s usually a supervillain to  Captain Marvel, aka Shazam. But hey, if you find a vehicle for the Rock you get in and drive.

Speaking of Captain Marvel, the sequel to his first movie will be called  Shazam: Fury of the Gods. It’ll be out in 2022.

The Snyder Cut

Fans have been waiting for years to see a version of Justice League that makes good on director Zack Snyder’s original vision. They’re getting it next year, when HBO Max releases the Snyder Cut in four four-hour parts. Check out the new trailer below:

Hallelujah.

The Suicide Squad

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn pulled the curtain back on his reboot of Suicide Squad with a video laying out all the actors and who they’ll be playing…

…and a glimpse of some footage together with behind-the-scenes interviews:

Idris Elba is Bloodsport; John Cena is Peacemaker Pete Davidson is playing Blackguard…this one could get really weird in the best way.

Video games

There were reveals for a couple of video games, including Gotham Knights, a co-op adventure game set following the apparent death of Batman where Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl and Red Hood team up to protect Gotham City from the Court of Owls…

…and a new game from Rocksteady Studios, the people behind the Batman: Arkham games. Check out the trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League:

Titans season 3

Speaking of the Red Hood, the character will feature in the upcoming third season of Titans. The new season will see Jason Todd (Curran Walters) take on the mantle after leaving the identity of Robin behind. We’ll also Barbara Gordon as a Gotham City Police Department commissioner and Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow.

The first two seasons of Titans ran on DC Universe, but with that service on its last legs, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the third on HBO Max.

The Batman trailer

Easily one of the biggest reveals of the event came at the end, when Matt Reeves showed off a preliminary trailer for his still very-much-in-progress movie The Batman, with Twilight star Robert Pattinson stepping into the role of the Caped Crusader. Take a look:

We see Zoe Kravitz in action as Catwoman, as well as definite hints that Batman will be going up against the Riddler (Paul Dano). And we can’t forget about Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

As for the Batman himself, Robert Pattinson is going full emo, with black eyeliner, a hair trigger, and a sincere declaration that he is “vengeance.” This isn’t the the super-serious take on Batman that Christopher Nolan gave us in his Dark Knight trilogy, but it’s the high camp of the Joel Schumacher movies, either. It’s somewhere in between.

Director Matt Reeves still has a lot left to shoot. We’ll see how it all turns out sometime next year.

The Sandman

Neil Gaiman talked a little more about Netflix’s adaptation of his seminal comic series The Sandman, saying that it’ll be “slightly looser, but still faithful” to the books. “What we’re doing with Netflix is saying, ‘OK, It’s still going to start in 1916, but the thing that happens in Sandman 1–the point the story starts–is not 1988, it’s now,'” he said.

Your move, Marvel.
