Major Netflix stars come together for the first trailer for Enola Holmes, all about Sherlock’s formidable little sister. Take a look!
Netflix’s upcoming Enola Holmes movie, based on the young adult book series by Nancy Springer, follows Sherlock Holmes’ little sister, a plucky detective-in-waiting who takes it upon herself to find her missing mother (Helena Bonham Carter) without the help of her brother Sherlock (Henry Cavill) and Mycroft (Sam Claflin), who look like they’re trying to shove her into a reform school or something, so offensive are her manners to 19th century English sensibilities.
Netflix just released the first official trailer for the movie, and it looks like a good time! Check it out below:
Enola is fond of addressing the camera; I like a character bold enough to narrate their own story. Director Harry Bradbeer is clearly going for a bit of a rebel yell vibe, what with Enola striking out on her own, learning jiu jitsu, having brushes with death on speeding trains, and setting that final montage to “Celebrity Skin” by Hole, Courtney Love’s old band.
Playing Enola is Millie Bobby Brown, who shot to fame as the telekinetic Eleven on Stranger Things, another rebel. Between her and The Witcher star Henry Cavill as Sherlock, it kind of feels like the Netflix casting director just leaned out the window one day and screamed for anyone within earshot to come and audition for this movie, and I’m okay with that.
Enola Holmes comes to Netflix on September 23.
