Star Trek Fleet Command now lets you play as characters from any era

The mobile game Star Trek Fleet Command previously limited itself to the “Kelvin” timeline of the recent ST movies. Now, things are expanding WAY beyond:

Star Trek Fleet Command is a mobile strategy game. It starts you off by putting you in command of one small space station and one ship. From there, you can explore a vast system populated with both players and NPCs. You can collect resources to build your fleet, form alliances with other players, engage in battle, and more.

The game has been doing well since it was released in 2018, and now, developer Scopely and ViacomCBS Consumer Products are upping the ante by allowing players access to characters from every timeline in the vast Star Trek franchise.

Up until now, Fleet Command has been set in the “Kelvin timeline” established in the last three Star Trek movies with Chris Pine and Zoe Saldana and company: those films branch off from the timeline established in Star Trek: The Original Series and allow for Kirk, Spock and the rest to have a whole new set of adventures. But with this expansion, characters from across the franchise are available, from the franchise’s origins in the ’60s right through modern shows like Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard.

Star Trek is going through a pretty major resurgence at the moment, at least on TV; the new movies remain in limbo. But between the TV shows and games, there’s plenty to go around for Trek fans.

If you’re interested in checking out Star Trek Fleet Command, you can download it for free on Google Play (for Android) or on the Apple App Store (for iOS).
