Outlander star Sam Heughan down to play Wolverine AND James Bond

Outlander star Sam Heughan already tops fan polls for who should play the next James Bond. Now, fans want him to play Wolverine, too, and he’s into it!

Sam Heughan has the sort of charisma, good looks, and acting ability that makes people weak in the knees. (The accent doesn’t hurt, either.) So naturally, when he voiced his desire to play James Bond, we were all on board with it. We don’t actually know who the next James Bond will be, but if anyone in charge is reading this: Heughan has our vote, and we’re not alone.

And James Bond isn’t the only iconic role fans apparently want to see the Scottish actor step into. Just Jared has run a poll asking fans who they want to play Wolverine when Disney inevitably reboots the X-Men movie franchise, which they just bought from Fox. There are lots of choices, including simply “Newcomer,” but after thousands of votes, as of this writing Heughan is clearly in the lead with over half.

For the record, 50 Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan in second place with 30% of the votes. Anyway, word of this got to Heughan, and he seems down for it:

The best part of this are the fans who have gone ahead and put Heughan’s face onto Wolverine’s body. And I must say, I can definitely see him pulling it off, intense facial hair and all.

So Heughan is a fan favorite to play James Bond and Wolverine. What’s next? Doctor Who?

Whether or not Heughan could actually land the role of Wolverine or James Bond is something we’ll have to wait to find out, but with the world demanding it, hopefully some of the people upstairs will pay attention!
