The Star Wars galaxy is so much bigger than just the movies. Here are 20 of the best SW characters who’ve never appeared on the big screen…yet.

If you’ve watched all nine mainline Star Wars movies, plus side stories Rogue One and Solo, then you’ve heard all about Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princes Leia, Jar Jar Binks…you know, the usual suspects. However, there are many other Star Wars characters who have never made it to the big screen who are worth knowing, too.

We could easily spend days or even weeks talking about the many Star Wars characters featured in TV shows, comics, games, books and more. This is a vast universe of people, and while not all of them are going to make it to the big screen, some will…and a few will even deserve it. But for whatever reason it hasn’t happened…yet. To honor these undersung figures, we’re highlighting 20 of the most memorable, interesting figures from the Star Wars canon who still haven’t shown up on the big screen.

Before we dive into the list, let’s go over a couple of ground rules. First, to be eligible, characters cannot have not appeared in any Star Wars movies released into theaters as of 2020. This includes voice-only roles as well. So I’m sorry, Ashoka Tano fans, but everyone’s favorite Jedi-in-training will not be showing up, since we heard her voice in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Both “Legends” and “Canon” material is acceptable. If you’re unfamiliar with the difference, Legends is the Star Wars material created by George Lucas and Canon material is created by Disney. Since Disney bought the rights to Star Wars in 2012, most of the Legends material was transferred and is now considered Canon, but not all. The material that did not make it across is still widely available, and there are lots of characters in there worthy of a good movie.
