The second season of The Mandalorian officially has a premiere date! Get ready for a whole new adventure, with some very interesting new cast members…

Finally, some light at the end of the awful tunnel that has been 2020: the second season of The Mandalorian officially has a premiere date on Disney+!

On October 30, fans can tune in to the further adventures of Baby Yoda and his helmeted guardian, Dyn Jarren. This is the way.

The first season of The Mandalorian, the first-ever live action Star Wars show, was a surprise sensation for the then-burgeoning streaming service. It was as lavish a production as anything in the post-Game of Thrones era, but it stood out with strong performances for a wide variety of guest stars, an episodic structure, and of course, the beloved Baby Yoda, aka “The Child.”

Star Wars fans loved it and critics (including this one) were impressed. The show was even nominated for 15 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series.

In a stroke of good luck, season 2 wrapped production right as the coronavirus epidemic was shutting down sets all around the world. As with season 1, new episodes of season 2 will be released weekly every Friday, and will also boast more guest stars in addition to returning cast members like Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), and Gina Carano (Cara Dune).

There should also be several new characters joining the series, whether as cameos or something more substantial. Rosario Dawson is heavily rumored to be on board as Ahsoka Tano, a popular character introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Temuera Morrison, who played Jango Fett in the prequel trilogy, is part of the cast. Additionally, sci-fi legends Michael Biehn (The Terminator) and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) join the cast, along with Timothy Olyphant (Justified).

But of course, the stars are still the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda, last seen blasting off in search of Baby Yoda’s homeworld, with the vile Moff Gideon determined to track them down. Lots to look forward to on October 30!
