19. Pete Davidson as Toad

Toad was introduced as a sniveling lackey to Magneto, who proved a cruel master. Over the years, he would take on several roles in the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (changed to just the Brotherhood of Mutants after they got the note about how the name was terrible for PR), but was rarely in a leadership position.

His powers include prodigious leaping abilities, the ability to stick to walls, an elongated prehensile tongue, and other toad-like stuff. Depending on the incarnation, he also sometimes has waxy, mottled green skin.

Different incarnations of the X-Men have come at Toad from different angles. In the original Fox movie, Ray “Darth Maul” Park played him as a wily fighter. In the animated show Wolverine and the X-Men, he seemed like a burnt-out stoner, and in X-Men: Evolution, he was a slacker with a New York accent.

No matter the incarnation, Toad is a side character often called on to provide comic relief. So why not cast the King of Staten Island himself, Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson? He’s perfected a low-key approach to screen acting that could provide a nice contrast to some of the more sincere, serious-minded mutants up on the screen. Roping in Davidson could give the movies a chance to explore the character better, even if he’s never going to be on the front lines. Not like this next guy…
