Are we excited to watch the giant new sci-fi show from the Game of Thrones showrunners? What of John Boyega’s criticisms of Star Wars? Join the discussion:

Here on Take the Black Live, we talk about only the choicest news in the worlds of sci-fi and fantasy, and there was a lot of it to go around today. Watch below:

We start by talking about a new sci-fi show from Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss: working with an extensive team, the two will adapt the smash sci-fi trilogy Remembrance of Earth’s Part, for Netflix, starting with 2008’s The Three-Body Problem.

This is a big announcement, and a huge move for Benioff, Weiss, True Blood writer Alexander Woo, and everyone else involved in the production. Are we excited? How is the internet feeling? How are you feeling?

Next up, we luxuriate in the announcement of a premiere date for The Mandalorian season 2 before getting into some of what Star Wars veteran John Boyega (Finn) had to say about the series’ treatment of characters of color. Does he have a point?

Finally, Mia takes us inside a real-life movie theater for a review of The New Mutants, we look forward to His Dark Materials season 2, and take a minute to remember actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away last Friday.
