The Federation is in shambles in the new official trailer for Star Trek: Discovery season 3, which takes place in the far-flung future.
When last we left the crew of the Discovery, they had fallen through a wormhole and found themselves centuries into the future, further forward in time than any Star Trek show had gone before. Discover this.
And what do they find? Well, CBS All Access just dropped a new trailer. Take a look:
So in the far future, the Federation has collapsed after a mysterious event known as “the Burn.” What’s the Burn? “The Burn is the day the galaxy took a hard left.” Well, that’s nice and vague.
Star Trek boss Alex Kurtzman has hinted that this season will explore some bleaker themes, showing us a future that’s not quite in keeping with the utopian vision a lot of Trek shows have explored. The future gets rough. Will the crew of the Discovery be able to get things back on track, or maybe learn enough so they can alter things when and if they get back to their own time?
We’ll find out when Star Trek: Discovery season 3 premieres on CBS All Access on October 15. Until then, we also have a new poster:
The future: the final frontier.
