The Mandalorian is the most anticipated show of the fall
No surprise: people are eager to see Mando and Baby Yoda back in action. What else are they looking forward to, and what are they streaming most right now?
“This is the way.” It’s been a while since we’ve heard that phrase, or caught up with our favorite bounty hunter and alien child duo, but The Mandalorian’s second season is just a little over a month away and fans cannot wait to dive back into the first-ever live-action Star Wars series. In fact, Rotten Tomatoes surveyed 1,000 people about which series they’re most looking forward to watching this fall, and The Mandalorian was at the top of the list for returning television shows.
Following the Baby Yoda craze late last year and the show’s many Emmy nominations (with a few wins already), it’s not so surprising to see The Mandalorian claim the top spot. Here’s the rest of the list:
- Star Wars: The Mandalorian
- Fargo
- This Is Us
- The Crown
- His Dark Materials
- Star Trek: Discovery
- Bob’s Burgers
- Superstore
- The Masked Singer
- Supernatural
Mando had to beat out some impressive names to come out on top, but then again, none of those other series have Baby Yoda, so was it really a competition in the first place?
When it comes to the most anticipated new series of the fall, the CBS All Access adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand snagged the number one spot, followed by another spooky offering:
- The Stand
- The Haunting of Bly Manor
- Ratched
- Animaniacs
- The Undoing
- Welcome to Blumhouse
- The Walking Dead: World Beyond
- Doctor Who Festive Special: Revolution of the Daleks
- The Equalizer
- Marvel’s Helstrom
And as long as we’re doing lists of 10 things, Neilsen has released its new list of the most-watched streaming shows for the week of August 17-23, which has a new champion:
- 1. Lucifer, 1.59 billion minutes viewed
- 2. The Legend of Korra, 1.25 billion
- 3. The Umbrella Academy, 1.09 billion
- 4. The Office, 928 million
- 5. Shameless, 802 million
- 6. Grey’s Anatomy, 764 million
- 7. Project Power, 761 million
- 8. Criminal Minds, 713 million
- 9. NCIS, 533 million
- 10. Teenage Bounty Hunters, 422 million
Wow, The Legend of Korra is really hanging in there. A shame about The Last Airbender creators leaving the Netflix remake.
But getting back to the matter at hand, we can’t wait for The Mandalorian’s second season, which sees Mando and Baby Yoda traversing the galaxy once again, this time in pursuit of the Jedi. Unfortunately, Moff Gideon will likely be close behind them, with the Darksaber in hand, no less.
The newest installment promises to raise the stakes from the show’s first season when it arrives on October 30.
