With the announcement of a new show starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Marvel officially has nine Disney+ shows in development. Double-digits, here we come…
From the moment he showed up at the very end of the first Iron Man movie way back in 2008, Samuel L. Jackson has been one of the pillars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, uniting heroes, running S.H.I.E.L.D., stopping alien invasions and in general being iconic.
And he’s not done. Variety reports that Jackson will reprise his role as Fury in a new Disney+ series, which makes him the latest in a very long line of heroes to get their own show on Disney’s streaming service. Let’s count them, shall we? There’s WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, What If…? and now this. Our Marvel dance cards are very full.
Variety actually doesn’t mention if this show is about Fury, or if it’s a different show that he’s a part of; obviously, plot details are being kept under wraps. Either way, it’s always good to see Jackson in this role, even if I’m starting to wonder if I can ever keep up with this much Marvel TV. Eh, it’s a pretty good problem to have.
The last time we saw Nick Fury was in the post-credits scene for Spider-Man: Far From Home, where he was (SPOILERS incoming) aboard a Skrull ship somewhere in the depths of space. That opens up lots of possibilities. Nick Fury: Alien Diplomat. Nick Fury: Destroyer of Worlds. Or maybe he comes back to Earth and we get the expected Nick Fury: One-Eyed Super-Spy. We’ll be on the lookout for more info.
