While they wait for filming to start on The Last Kingdom season 5, the stars of the Netflix drama are making short films, teaching classes, and more.

The Last Kingdom was recently renewed for a fifth season on Netflix. But before filming starts, let’s check in with what the stars have been up to amid the global pandemic.

First up, James Northcote (Aldhelm) co-starred in a short film about the COVID-19 outbreak in his native England. Northcote appears in the film alongside his wife, Elisabeth Hopper. This film’s title comes from Shakespeare’s Richard II:

It’s a rather intense 11 minutes. Would have really liked to see Fiona’s decision!

Also, for those that didn’t catch it, that’s Northcote’s former boss on The Last Kingdom, Toby Regbo (Aethelred), calling in over the phone. And Arnas Fedaravicius (Sihtric) served as an executive producer. Maybe Alexander Dreymon (Uhtred) can show up in the sequel?

Of course, Northcote isn’t the only one working on new stuff. Emily Cox (Brida) has continued filming on season 4 of the German comedy series Jerks:

Elsewhere, Mark Rowley (Finan) continues to hold virtual acting classes on everything from musical theater to audition tapes. Rowley is joined regularly by Northcote and Eliza Butterworth (Aelswith), in addition to a bevy of rotating coaches from film, TV and theater. If there’s any aspect of the performing arts you’re interested in, they have something for you!

Magnus Bruun (Cnut) might have met his end in season 4, but he’ll keep spilling Saxon blood with a voice role in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, which looks…AWESOME?

And then sometimes, The Last Kingdom are just smiling on Instagram. There’s Eysteinn Sigurðarson (Sigtryggr), who’s hopefully enjoying newlywed life

and Butterworth, who’s having fun with face paint:

Finally, the official Last Kingdom Instagram account wants to know your mood:

Naturally, Bruun himself runs the gamut:

For our part, we’re waiting for season 5 to begin filming before we commit to any one mood.

Destiny is all!
