The second season of The Witcher will adapt Blood of Elves, the third novel in Andrzej Sapkowski’s series.

It’s a Witcher kind of day. The cameras are rolling again after a COVID-19-mandated hiatus, and earlier today Netflix gave us a look at Geralt of Rivia’s new, bulky armor. Now, ComicBook.com has gotten ahold of the official synopsis for the second season:

"Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside."

If you’ll recall, the first season ended with the Battle of Sodden, where sorcerers and sorceresses like Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) stood firm against the invasion of the Nilfgaardian army. They were victorious, but things got pretty dire towards the end. Meanwhile, Geralt (Henry Cavill) and Ciri (Freya Allan).

The first season of The Witcher adapted the first two books in Andrzej Sapkowski’s series, The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny. The synopsis for season 2 tracks pretty closely with the early chapters of Blood of Elves, the third novel. The Battle of Sodden is over, Yennefer is presumed dead, and Geralt has decided to train Ciri in the ways of the Witcher.

With the COVID-19 hiatus behind it (for now, cross your fingers it stays that way), Netflix seems to be building hype for The Witcher.
