Between Batman’s smokey eye look and Bruce Wayne’s Hot Topic haircut, it looks like The Batman is going full emo, and I’m here for it.

Filming on director Matt Reeves’ The Batman is officially back up and running, and we’re getting first looks at some key characters.

We already saw what Robert Pattinson will look like as Batman in the movie. Anyone who’s watched the trailer will remember his Bat-face smeared with black eyeshadow:

That image inspired some chatter, both because the smokey eye look is a classic, and because we’d rarely seen Batman look so dramatic before.

Now, in new pics of Pattinson from the set, it looks like they’re carrying this emo-style Batman over to Bruce Wayne, who’s stepping out in full Hot Topic bangs:

“Why should I brush the hair out of my eyes? So I can see the horrible injustices happening in the world?” It’s very that, and I’m kind of into it.

In another photo from the same scene, we get our first look at Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle (we see her briefly as Catwoman in the trailer):

Very sleek, very stylish; I love it. Also, are they at a funeral or something? Everyone’s wearing a lot of black and looks sad. Although that’s kind of Batman’s thing, so maybe it’s just a normal Tuesday.

Other villains in the The Batman include Paul Dano as the Riddler and Colin Farrell as the Penguin (really).

The movie is currently scheduled to release on March 4, 2022, delayed from June of 2021.
