Control Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton) in a real-life video game, and more stuff
By Dan Selcke
Gemma Whelan is “dreaming of Yara,” Maisie Williams gets a cover shoot, and you can control Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton) in an interactive horror video game.
Here’s a new one: Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption developer John Zurhellen has come up with an idea for a “real life video game” called Screamfest 4: The Kraken’s Revenge (no word on what happened with Screamfest 1-3). The idea is that there’ll be a guy in a location, and “players” will be able to give him instructions: go in that room, pick up that thing, etc. And this is a horror game described as “tense, frightening and chillingly dark,” so give the guy the wrong instruction and he could end up dead…or at least, “dead.”
And why are we talking about this? Because the guy everyone is controlling is none other than Iwan Rheon, who played the vile Ramsay Bolton on Game of Thrones. “I’m used to playing a character that did all the controlling but now the tables are turned,” Rheon said. “I’ll be at the mercy of people controlling my every move online from anywhere in the country, sending me from room to room in a particularly creepy location while I’m hunted by a monster. I do wonder how many Kraken fans will send me to my doom and how many will save me!”
Yeesh, this could get dark.
The game will happen on Wednesday, October, where Rheon will be “playable” for two hours. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, October 21; each one will get you a 10-minute slot to play this interactive horror game. You can find out more on the official website.
Okay, let’s swing to something entirely different after that weirdness. Here’s Bella Ramsey (Lyanna Mormont) out there doing her part to fight climate change as part of the Big Climate Fightback from Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity:
Meanwhile, Gemma Whelan is “dreaming of Yara,” crown and all:
Do you get a crown for sitting the Salt Throne? Or is she just Warden of the Iron Islands now? See, this is why we need a sequel.
Whelan is also keeping busy recording books for Audible, including the YA fantasy Hollowpox: The Hunt for Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend, available now:
She also gave us a look at what recording an audiobook looks like in our current age of plague:
Elsewhere, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and boyfriend Reuben Selby adorn the cover of the latest issue of Behind the Blinds:
And finally, here’s a dose of Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (the Mountain) being completely adorable with his newborn baby:
Aw.
So that’s what Game of Thrones are doing now. What will they be doing later? We’ll know soon enough.
