Jared Leto is bringing his metal-mouthed, Hot Topic version of the Joker to the Snyder Cut of Justice League, due out next year.
The Snyder Cut just keeps getting bigger. Not a day after we reported that Kevin Kostner may return to play Jonathan Kent in Zack Snyder’s new, much longer version of 2017’s Justice League, The Hollywood Reporter breaks the news that Jared Leto, who played the Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad, is involved as well.
At the moment, Snyder is doing reshoots for his movie, which is officially called Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The reshoots involve Ben Affleck (Batman), Ray Fisher (Cygorg), Amber Heard (Mera) and Leto.
We know that Warner Bros. is spending upwards of $70 million to shine up the Snyder Cut (which is well over the budget of last year’s Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix, FYI) and that the final product will run for around four hours, split into different episodes.
And with all the characters Snyder seems to be bringing in, it may make use of all of that time. A lot of fans thought they’d seen the end of this version of the Joker, with Warner Bros. itself going back to the drawing board with a new Batman movie, this time with Robert Pattinson in the lead role. But the Snyder Cut will be one last hurrah for the DCEU that never quite was. Who knows? Maybe it can restore interest in this particular cinematic universe.
Either that or it’ll be an embarrassing, overreaching failure. Either way, we’ll be entertained.
The Snyder Cut will be available on HBO Max next year.
