We may have a production start date for the third season of The Umbrella Academy, but we’re probably gonna have to wait a while for the finished product.
The Umbrella Academy has been a huge hit for Netflix, with the recent second season in particular melting the faces off fans. So it’s only a matter of time before the dysfunctional, superpowered Hargreeves family is back on our screens.
That said, it could be longer than anticipated, what with the pandemic throwing a wrench into things. According to industry rag Production Weekly, filming on season 3 is set to kick off on February 1 of 2021 and wrap up in August of the same year. If that’s true, it’s unlikely we’d get the finished season in 2021; more likely, we’er looking at a Spring 2022 date, or later depending on how the COVID-19 is going by then.
That’s a long time to wait to resolve that cliffhanger at the end of season 2, when the Hargreeves kids finally got back to their own time period only to find their old home occupied by the members of the shadowy Sparrow Academy, apparently led by their (deceased) brother Ben. Can we make it that long without knowing how that all shakes down?
If only Number Five was around to warp us into the future…
