Sophie Turner to play a royal in new HBO Max series The Prince
By Dan Selcke
Game of Thrones stars Sophie Turner (Sansa) and Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton) reunite for a new HBO Max show where they both play members of a noble family.
Sophie Turner will once again play a young girl from a powerful noble family, but The Prince — a new animated series coming to HBO Max — couldn’t be more different from HBO Max.
To start, The Prince is about an actual royal family: the British royal family, to be exact. It sprung into being from Family Guy writer Gary Janetti’s social media accounts, where he gained a following portraying Prince George Of Cambridge, the son of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Janetti’s version of the 7-year-old prince is catty, frivolous and delights in mocking the other members of royal family. Watching the clip they released today, you definitely get a Family Guy vibe from it:
That’s Turner as the 5-year-old Princess Charlotte, who’s ruining her brother’s Halloween costume plans. Janetti himself will play Prince George. Besides that, the show actually boasts a pretty impressive cast, including:
- Orlando Bloom as Prince Harry
- Condola Rashad as Meghan Markle
- Alan Cumming as George’s butler
- Frances De La Tour as Queen Elizabeth
- Lucy Punch as Kate Middleton
And then, just to complete the Game of Thrones circle, Iwan Rheon will play Prince William, Princess Charlotte’s father! Rheon, of course, played the vile Ramsay Bolton on Game of Thrones, but obviously his relationship with Turner’s character will be different this time around, thank goodness.
No word yet on a release date for The Prince.
And as long as we’re talking about what the cast of Game of Thrones is up to, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (the Mountain) debuted a pretty wicked zombie costume:
Happy belated Halloween.
